Jane Sheppard
“My work is fundamentally about listening to the earth and our ancestral voices. My enquiry is the deepest nature of humanity and our relationship to our home planet. I work with universal symbols and forms that pull on our deepest human memories that connect the present to our collective primal memories, anchored by touch.
Process is fundamental to my work. Coiling induces meditative absorption and simplicity is key – I work with minimal tools and smoke. These are portable processes that our ancestors would recognise; an everyman approach.” – Jane Sheppard
