Overview

Michael Taylor specialises in figurative oil paintings, still lifes and portraits. He completed a foundation course at West Sussex College of Art and Design and went on to Goldsmiths School of Art, obtaining a BA Hons in Fine Art in 1973.

 Taylor’s works have been exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts, The National Portrait Gallery, Waterhouse and Dodd (London) and Beaux Arts (London and Bath),  and have been acquired by private or public collections including, The National Portrait Gallery, London and The House of Lords Collection of the UK Parliament.

Although not primarily a portrait painter, Taylor has painted the guitarist Julian Bream, the crime writer P D James, the musician Andy Sheppard, the former Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer (commissioned by and for the House of Lords), and the composer John Tavener.
