Originally from Australia, Sarah lives on the Isle of Skye, Scotland Although Sarah’s paintings are a reflection of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, they are not of any one particular place. The paintings emerge from colour and light, harnessing an age old connection with the landscape that is felt more than seen. Scale is particularly important to Sarah, hoping to draw the viewer closer to the small paintings, to create intimacy and connection to a deceivingly epic landscape, and our place within it. Issues surrounding climate change, ecosystems and the marine environment underpin her practice, combined with a great joy of the natural world. Sarah shows regularly throughout Scotland and the UK. Previously Sarah has won the ING Discerning Eye Landscape Prize, Jackson’s Painting Landscape Prize, shortlisted for the John Ruskin Prize, Alpine Fellowship Art Prize and received the Hulabhaig Curator’s Purchase Award. Recent exhibition's include the ‘Small is Beautiful, 43rd Edition’,Flowers Gallery London, ING Discerning Eye, the ‘Landscape Open’, Salisbury Museum.
